Our speaker for the March meeting was Steve Owens who talked about new plants available this spring. Steve is a familiar face to the Tulsa Perennial Club and Oklahoma gardeners in general.

He hosted Oklahoma Gardening on OETA for six years, stepping down this past fall to concentrate on his specialty plant nursery Bustani Plant Farm located in Stillwater Oklahoma. Steve is the 2006 recipient of the George J. Vaclavek Gold Medal from the Oklahoma Horticultural Society and he coauthored “Best Garden Plants for Oklahoma” in 2007 with Laura Peters.

One of TPC's own will be speaking this month-- Tom Toops of Toops Landscaping.  Tom will showcase a selection of plants while discussing some of the hottest new plants for Zone 6.  You will not want to miss this one!
 
Tom has been in the horticulture industry for fifteen years.  Following professional affiliations at Sanders Nursery in Broken Arrow and Bethesda Farms in Glenpool, he recently opened his own landscaping business.  (Tom and his wife, Peggy, are the proud parents of six children and ten grandchildren!)

Plenty of parking. Just be there at 7PM. Colebrooks has opened a new showroom this year with over 8 acres of beautiful plants to choose from. (Of course the 8 acres is not in the showroom.) They specialize in annuals but also have loads of trees, shrubs, annuals, cottage accent pots and water features. Come for a top notch presentation followed by plenty of time to peruse the gardens.

Susan Snodgrass, TPC horticulturist coordinated the annual roundtable discussions (perennials and water gardening).  The plant swap was held also with members and guests bringing in at least three plants.

Off site meeting at Southwoods Nursery. Susan Brammeier spoke on annual and perennial grasses and gave a tour of the nursery.

Susan Albert, Bartlesville Master Gardener presented "Gardening for Butterflies".   She passed around plants showing the butterfly in various stages of development.  Also available was a display of beautiful butterflies in the garden.

Maureen Turner, horticulturist with the Tulsa Parks Department spoke on native plants and the upcoming Woodward Park Perennial Garden.  Maureen has been busy since the ice storm last winter with the "Regreening of Tulsa".

Brian Jervis, Horticulturist at the Tulsa County Extension Office and Tulsa Master Gardener Coordinator, gave a presentation on the New and interesting plants at the Tulsa County Extension Office.  Brian was also available for questions.
